Vanessa Pierre-Parker, MA, LMFT, TF-CBT, Co-Founder & President
Vanessa Pierre-Parker grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and migrated to the United States at the age of 12. She has dedicated over 20 years to careers in human resources and mental health services with experience in academic settings, houses of faith, community-based agencies, corporate organizations, and private practice. Vanessa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a rostered clinician in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She is Co-Founder of Kindling House LLC, and owner of the Kindling House Psychotherapy, PLLC. Vanessa received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bowie State University (Bowie, MD), and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University (Charlotte, NC). She is a member of the Domestic Violence Advocacy Council (DVAC) and serves as a champion for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV).
In 2007, Vanessa moved from Maryland to Charlotte with her husband and three children. While Psychotherapy provides the primary medium for which to serve her community, Vanessa has long engaged in civic activities both in Haiti and in the states-as was instilled in her by her late grandmother, Marie Aline Gay (Manman). As the matriarch of the family, Manman was a strong force in her community in Haiti and here in the states; constantly striving to improve the lives of others. Standing on Manman’s ashes and with profound love for her fellow countrymen, Vanessa serves to extend her legacy through the foundation’s pursuit of uplifting, empowering and instilling hope and possibility.
